Pembrokeshire is a county in the south west of Wales. To the north is the South Irish Sea while to the west is St George's Channel and to the south the Bristol Channel.Being surrounded by the sea on three sides it is no surprise that Pembrokeshire is renowned for its fabulous beaches and cliff top walks with tourism being the counties main industry. On land the county is bordered in the north by the county of Ceredigion and to the west by the county of Carmarthenshire. Pembrokeshire has an area of 613.9 square miles and has a population in the region of 118,000 with small settlements spread throughout the county. The major towns are to be found on the coastline or along the banks of the other major geographical feature, the massive inlet known as Milford Haven. The towns include Fishguard, Newport, Haverfordwest, Milford Haven, Pembroke, Tenby, Narberth and the smallest city in Wales and indeed the UK St David's. The property stock of Pembrokeshire ranges from traditional Welsh cottages and farm houses in the north and the rural heartlands to the large georgian properties of the holiday resort of Tenby..... and Pembrokeshire has its fair share of Welsh castles! The Welsh language is not spoken as widely in Pembrokeshire as some other Welsh counties (22%). Indeed for many years the county was known as "little England beyond Wales".
