Anglesey is an island off the north west of Wales. Known as Ynys Mon in Welsh the island is also known as the mother of Wales. Although an island Anglesey is connected to the mainland by two great bridges, the Britannia Bridge and the Menai Suspension Bridge. The principal areas of population are Holyhead in the north west, the ferry port to Ireland, Beaumaris in the south east, a popular seaside resort, and the county town of Llangefni in the centre of the island. There are of course numerous small towns and villages sprinkled about the island but most newcomers are attracted to the seaside resorts that have grown around the glorious Anglesey coastline. Mile after mile of sandy beaches, rocky headlands, small coves, and dramatic windswept cliffs. The whole is designated an area of "outstanding natural beauty." The property stock varies from smallholdings and detached stone farmhouses with acres of land to small terrace houses within the larger towns. Bungalows are ever popular with locals and newcomers alike. Welsh culture is of great importance to the people of Anglesey and indeed the Welsh language is spoken by 60% on the island.
